ProtR-C
ProtR-C is the first product based on RHCC technology.
By use of ProtR-C, direct delivery of the drug to the tumor is achieved,
improving drug efficacy and reducing side-effects and inconvenience for the
patient.
Two applications of ProtR-C are under development:
Cancer therapy
The first application is focused on the use of ProtR-C as a carrier for cisplatin. Cisplatin is a very potent cancer drug, but is not used to the extent desired, owing to substantial side-effects on healthy tissue. Improved efficiency will be obtained at lower doses, reducing the harm inflicted on healthy tissue and the discomfort experienced by the patient.
Targeted cancer therapy
ProtR-C- will be combined with ligands for specific tissue targeting. The application aims at directing the delivery vehicle to any tissue of interest, broadening the potential use of cisplatin to previously inaccessible tissues, and improving the efficacy of cisplatin therapy in still other indications. By using tagged ProtR-C with cisplatin, the drug can be carried specifically to the tissue to be treated, side-effects can be avoided, and the applications of it broadened.
