ProtR-C
ProtR-C improves the outcome of cisplatin chemotherapy in cancer,
by delivery of the drug to the tumor, avoiding effects on healthy tissue. ProtR-C is based on the proprietary platform technology RHCC. By use of RHCC for cisplatin chemotherapy, side-effects are reduced and drug efficacy increased, improving the chances of successful treatment. As side-effects are reduced patients suffer less, and patient groups too weak for ordinary cisplatin treatment can be included.
Some potent drugs are limited in their usefulness because of systemic toxicity,
giving unacceptable side-effects. This is true of some metal-based drugs, e.g. cancer
drugs, which have a great potential but do more harm to surrounding tissue than
can be justified by their effect on the tumor cells. The carrier function is to
protect the non-diseased tissue from the drug, and to protect the drug from degradation
prior to reaching the target tissue.
Clinical benefits of ProtR-C:
• Less side-effects
• Increased efficacy
• Improved success-rate
Based on ProtR-C, tissue-specific deliverers will be developed in collaboration
with partners. A range of ligands are evaluated for future product development targeting
specific cancer market segments.
